Nowadays, if you want to buy American it is a convoluted decision. Also, if you want to "Buy American" you need to ask yourself if you want to buy a car built by the same people who run the postal service, the financial regulating agencies who brought us our current debacle and the IRS or a free-market operating automaker? Well, if you want to buy a car from an American manufacturer still a bit outside the control of The Great CEO Barackus Obamus, it is time to buy a FORD.
The Obama administration used the threat of withholding more bailout money to force out General Motors Corp. Chief Executive Rick Wagoner and administer harsh medicine to Chrysler LLC, marking one of the most dramatic government interventions in private industry since the economic crisis began last year.
Granted, these are not well run companies and one should be allowed to fail if they cannot succeed on their own, but the government has no business making decisions about who runs a company.
Yes, but they are giving the government that power by coming to them for money," you may say, and you are correct. But that is another reason the government has no business giving them money.
This is all a dangerous entanglement between government and a free-society, but the lazy you-know-whats that seem to make up about half of this country these days not only do not know what "freedom" means, they cannot spell the word.

I have loved GM, Chevy mainly, my entire life. I will NOT buy a Government Motors car/truck. They have some great models and some coming out, but I have no interest in supporting this idiot president's actions. They should have worked it out in BK long ago.
You're right, this is the price you pay when you let the camel known as government stick its nose under the tent.
I hear Ford makes some good cars these days. I guess it is time to look.
Yes, what u said is on one side correct saying the funds transfer between government and free society is not so correct
Honda's are American cars. The engines are made here, the steel is made here, the interiors are made here and they are assembled here.
Honda is a Japanese congolmerate who does produce very well made cars in the United States. And, they are not government owned.
