Civility, It’s A Good Thing.

It is nice to see so many people standing in line, with disparate opinions held passionately, being civil to one another. In many circumstances, these strangers carry bitterly diverse opinions, but they keep them to themselves.

The day after, whatever happens, we have to work together, eat together and sleep together—if we are lucky—and we all know those, so we remain civil. It is nice. It is beautiful. It is a good thing.

Sure, you mumbled something to yourself, a friend, a lover, a child on the way to the car, but you did not challenge others standing in line. You had tolerance for the intellectually challenged.

Now, if our government could be as tolerant of its citizenry as the citizenry is of one another in an uncomfortable situation…
