Always love your country, but never trust your government!

Holiday Spirit: Give ‘em a Shove

You would be surprised that in left leaning circles, there really are those who talk about leaving the country now that the election is lost and George W. Bush remains in power. Perhaps it is not a perfect world, but the solution is filled with the same sort of emptiness they often propose; something that sounds good instead of something substantive. So, enjoy the holiday, and provide encouragement.

There is nothing more uplifting than encouraging others to follow their dream, and when you hear someone talking of fleeing the country, of obtaining citizenship elsewhere to make a better life for themselves, the right thing to do is encourage. Ask them how you can help. Ask them how you can make it easier. Ask them if there is anything, anything at all, you can do to facilitate this move. And do not forget to tell them what a brilliant idea they have grasped upon, and how you hope it is just idle talk. Let them know you believe they have far too much integrity to offer such idle rancor.

Yes, they will eventually fess up to the fact that they are not moving anywhere. So ask them, “Why not?” Let them know how disappointed you are, and query as to the possibility of you doing something, anything, to help them follow their dream. And, when all is said and done, ask one final question: “How was that a solution, especially when it is just idle BS?”

Yes, it is the holidays, so enjoy the festive spirit, and create your celebration.
