Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities. Truth isn't.

Can You Be A Patriot Against the Patriot Act?

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

(R)epublicans are concerned about the Patriot Act. (D)emocrats are concerned about the Patriot Act. (L)ibertarians are concerned about the Patriot Act. The founding father of this country would surely be concerned about the Patriot Act. A lot of people are concerned. Are you?

Those in favor of the Patriot Act seem to not understand the cost of freedom is high because it is so valuable, or they have not read the Patriot Act. Freedom is a beautiful and risky venture, and our goal should be more freedom, not less.

Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.
President Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826).

By the way, the quote at the beginning was from Benjamin Franklin, a man who understood the cost of freedom.
