Journalist? Says Who.
Journalists seem to have a thing about how serious and significant they are, holding desperately to the idealized label “journalist.” Wearing a label doesn’t make it so, and when “journalists” sign agreements that specify the types of questioning allowed and what the outcome of the interview must be, we had all better be willing to redefine the term journalist, and reevaluate those clinging so tightly to the term.
People signing these agreements are journalists and Jeff Gannon is not? As hard as it may be for them to swallow — if their contract allows — Jeff Gannon is not someone they should be looking down on, just so they can pull a seat up next to Angelina Jolie.
