Whoever knows he is deep, strives for clarity; whoever would like to appear deep to the crowd, strives for obscurity. For the crowd considers anything deep if only it cannot see to the bottom: the crowd is so timid and afraid of going into the water.

- Friedrich Nietzsche

Memorial Day

Is there any greater valor than giving your life for the idea of a country? That is why, on this Memorial Day, you honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

So that we may have a cookout and watermelon in our idea of freedom, people have given their lives. Not you, not I, but those who we honor today.

P.S. Don’t forget to thank the Boy Scouts for leaving a flag at the grave sites of the lost heroes.
