Jose Padilla: Enemy Combatant

With little information, I understood the argument of treating Jose Padilla like the American citizen he was, providing him his constitutional rights, but after listening to the government’s explanation today of why he is being treated as an enemy combatant, the argument was wrong. He is not an American citizen, but an al-Queda soldier, an enemy combatant.

Enemy Combatant
Jose Padilla planned, with extensive training and coordination from al-Queda, to attack us from within, and the information provided about what was planned, even to what he admitted to is astonishing. The fact that they are trying to turn apartment buildings into natural gas bombs should concern everyone. The fact that he was caught before doing what he had planned and trained to do should be of great relief.

And does Wannabe Kerry have anything to say about this? He mentioned that if he was Prez, he would make it so terrorists could not acquire the materials to make dirty bombs. Wonderful, Johnny, but any comment on the natural gas apartments bombs? Are you going to outlaw natural gas? Half answers? Clear Politics. How surprising for President Kerry.

Jose Padilla is an enemy combatant, but how do we use that designation while maintaining the liberties that make this such a great country?

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ~Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
