Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.

Oprah Pushes Reading, Again, and Gore Pushes Taxes

Left to her own volition, the mighty and powerful Oprah Winfrey pushes some not so good books. Now she is pushing The Greatest Story Ever Sold: The Decline and Fall of Truth from 9/11 to Katrina — is that an endorsement.

When not taking the big risk of advocating classics, she has offered the memoir A Million Little Pieces that turned out to be lies and Sacred Womb, about a woman and her story of rape (she is now going to prison herself because not only was she not raped, she raped a young man herself). Now, Oprah leans a bit left to advocate The Greatest Story Ever Sold, detailing the evils of the right by film and drama critic Frank Rich — yes, the brilliance of the soft film and drama critic. People are who they are and Oprah loves to buy the worst.

Speaking of lies, Mr. “I Should Be President” Gore is campaigning hard in California. What is he campaigning hard for? Tax increases. California already has high gas prices, in large part due to the significant tax the state places on fuel purchases, but for the good of all, a man who will bear no burden from the increase in California’s taxes is campaigning hard for the passage of Proposition 87, campaigning hard for an increase in taxes. Again, a burden he will not bear.

Really, people are who they are, and that is a story no one wants to buy.
